As a skeptical existentialist I feel like a dumbass saying this, but this is kind of serving as my Pagan Book of Shadows. As I delve further into magick as a really helpful psychological tool, I find more and more that I want to share what I learn with people. And retain what I have learned for my own future reference.
Also, do you ever feel like you just feel like you have too many thoughts? I have Google Docs coming out my ears with ideas for opinion articles, general rants, observational coincidences, and research papers on topics like comparative mythology and how it applies to the tarot deck to create a reflection of the human experience. Speaking of which, I’ve been working on creating my own tarot deck and need a place to start my guidebook. Additionally, I have been gardening for a few years and have a whole index of knowledge that I don’t want to forget. You know, witch shit.
All-in-all, this is a personal blog. A space for me to mentally work through some things in the only way I have ever known how to work through things: rambling on the internet.
About my beliefs
Religiously, I’ve been inclined to describe my practice as Existential Paganism, which I have also seen referred to in a few other places.
I believe all religion is the same story interpreted multiple ways. I don’t believe there is a god watching over us. I don’t believe anything is watching over us. I do believe there is a natural order to our environment and how we develop social groups, as well as a synergistic flow to life and existence. I believe that as sentient beings, we share an interconnected experience. I believe we are connected to everything through being made up of, in the words of Sagan, “the same star-stuff.” We are each an extension of the fabric of the universe, experiencing various blips of consciousness.
Politically and socially, I believe in rallying against ignorance and finding common ground. I believe in paying attention to the voices you aren’t hearing to further your understanding of the human experience throughout all branches. I believe we are supposed to support each other and that there is more that connects us than separates us.
I believe there is little in American culture that teaches people to support their mental health and creative needs.
About me
Due to the nature of this blog and fear of edge lords, I’m not going to get too explicit about who I am. Fully self-employed, I have a STEM background doing web development and user experience research, as well as design work. On top of that, I am also an illustrator.
From a mental health perspective, I have been diagnosed with BPD Type II with melancholic symptoms, minor Anxiety Disorder, and severe ADHD. I believe the ADHD is coupled with Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria, but have not had this clinically confirmed. I went to therapy for a while and found it incredibly helpful, but am not currently seeing a therapist as I have reached a stable period in my life. I am only prescribed treatment for the ADHD, but use herbal remedies and practices I learned through therapy for my anxiety and BPD. (See Medical Disclaimer below)
If you’re into astrology, I’m an Aries Sun, Libra Moon, and Aquarius Rising. (And here’s my natal chart)
